Pete Roper, P.I., is a private investigator. In House of Protection, Jerome Clarke hires him to find his "missing" father. Immediately, after Jerome and Mara met him, they realized that he was not a very skilled P.I., and that he was often sarcastic and rude to them, once finding Jerome's mother when it was meant to be his father.
After reading Jerome's handwriting wrong, and mistaking the name "John Clarke" for "Joan Clarke", he finds Jerome's mother by mistake and Jerome fires him. However, he still demanded payment for his work.
After Jerome doesn't pay the bill for his services, he starts to hang around the school, asking for Jerome. Jerome tries to pay him back through a fundraiser, Donkey Day, but Mara finds out that it is a scam and makes him donate the money he receives. After Jerome gets a temporary job, he is able to pay him back.
